CNC Rotary Tables – What You Must Know Before You Buy One

A CNC Rotary Table is one of the most common pieces of equipment in any workshop. It is a stationary table that has no moving parts at all and can be used for many different types of working positions. While these types of tables were once only found in industrial applications they have grown in popularity because of their versatility and user-friendliness. Basically, any hobbyist that needs to work with the material on a regular basis can benefit from one of these types of work spaces. While there are many different variations of this type of table it is important to know what your needs are before deciding on which one to get. This article will discuss CNC Rotary Table specifics and the benefits that you can enjoy by owning one of these versatile machines.

One of the most important factors to consider is whether to get a CNC Rotary Table that uses an original 3-axis or a 5-axis machine. The first two versions are more readily available and affordable than the fifth version. If you plan on building prototypes for consumer products, it is best to go with the original 3-axis machine tools. If you plan on building an industrial machine that will be used for large scale production, it would be best to go with the higher level of precision than the original CNC Rotary Table could provide.

CNC rotary tables that use a 5-axis machine will allow you to produce high precision parts that are as smooth as possible. By utilizing the programmable software a programmer will be able to quickly and easily program high precision operations into the machine for a very precise finish. However, the downside to these types of CNC rotary tables is that they cost more money to operate. If your CNC system consists mainly of small hand-scale jobs then a high precision CNC system is probably not worth the cost of the machine.

A fully programmable computerized machine will allow for the user to input whatever movements they would like to make into the CNC system. They will then be responsible for sending this data to the table via the computer serial ports or over the internet. In order to provide this level of accuracy you will need to have high quality and rotary tables. There are many different brands available, such as Xilento, machines by SparkFun, and Proflow.

Many of these high precision CNC rotary tables are also programmable and come with either a table mount or overhead mounting option. The two different mounting options will determine which axis of the CNC system that you are working with is available. An overhead mounting option will allow the user to have complete control over the X and Y axes of the machine. The only downside to this option is that it can be heavier than a table mount model.

If your machine has both an overhead and table mounting option then the most important factor will probably be how stable the machine is. How is it able to move back and forth on the X and Y axes without giving up accuracy? This is where the mechanical engineered designs come in. Many of these CNC rotary tables have what are called mechanical joints. These joints are designed to withstand heavy use, and give the operator complete control. Because these types of joints are made out of high quality material, you can be assured that your machines will not only be durable, but will operate at high speeds for years to come.
